So you are in the market for some cordless clippers! If you are anything like me, I imagine the whole host of options available to you had you scratching your head trying to figure out which was the right one for you. I too was lost, but after carrying out some extensive research, reading reviews and figuring out what makes the best cordless clippers, I’ve come up with my top six. There are a few things I need to tell you first, though…
Top 6 Best Cordless Clippers
Our first cordless clipper is the Wahl Lithium-ion clipper. Wahl is an American company based in Illinois that invented the first practical hair clipper back in 1919, so you know you’re in good hands! They’ve gone from strength to strength since then and now have over 165 products.
The lithium ion clipper offers contour shape precision as well as self-sharpening blades, with a typical charge usually providing two hours runtime. A quick fifteen-minute charge also provides twelve minutes of run time if you are in a hurry. The lithium ion battery for which the Clippers are named for will also hold a charge up to one year if you were to leave them lying around that long.
One of the best features of the lithium ion clipper is the fact that it offers 50% more power than previous Wahl models. It also cuts hair 40% faster than other Wahl precision blades. Another thing that I like that they ship with instructions to cutting hair and also using the clippers which are perfect for someone like me who didn’t know what they were doing when I first picked up my cordless clippers.
Created specifically for professionals in mind, it offers a level of performance that people demand while giving you the freedom of a cordless clipper. Featuring 2161 blades with zero overlap and high precision, the cordless magic clip offers speed and ease-of-use which I think is fantastic. I also like the taper lever that allows easy fading and blending when it comes to those sideburns and neck.
The Clippers also comes with all range of attachments such as different guard lengths, oil and cleaning brush. A Lithium iron battery provides 90+ minutes of charge for the rotary motor. What I like most about the magic clip is how light it is, weighing in at 1.2 pounds meaning I can take it everywhere and still cut my hair with ease.
The American company was founded in the 1920s as Anders OM Manufacturing, with one advantage their Clippers had over the competitors. This was the fact they were smaller, faster and delivered higher performance than others available on the market at the time.
The Andis Professional Ceramic hair clipper is a cordless clipper with a rotary motor that when fully charged can run for one hour continuously. A detachable blade allows for easy changing and versatility. Interestingly the Andis Profesional Ceramic Hair Clip have the option to charge the battery separately from the Clippers or the charging can be done on a power station that comes with the clippers. The power station also has a discharge feature to stop the battery pack developing memory. The ceramic edge blades will keep cooler than conventional blades, which means less risk of irritation when cutting your hair, a feature I like. I also like the fact the detachable blades allows me to keep the Clippers clean when I’m not using it.
Oster began in 1924 manufacturing manual powered hair clippers designed to cut men’s hair and in 1928 introduced motor driven clippers and never looked back. The Juice cordless clipper is a hybrid blade with six different lengths and a rubberized body offering a controlled grip when cutting hair. As with the Andis professional hair clippers mentioned above, the Oster juice cordless clippers also come with a charging base and two hours of running time on the battery.
The blade length can be changed by a rotating dial just above the power button on the cordless clippers, while the ergonomics design allows for all-day cutting without risk of fatigue. What I like about these clippers is the range of blade lengths you can work with when cutting and the speed at which the power station charges the blades. I also love how the power station itself offers a convenient place to put the cordless clippers when not in use.
Featuring another adjustable comb that allows multiple length settings on the go, all the way up to 7/8 inch, which is 21 mm in length, the Clippers have 10 settings in which to choose from when it comes to the length of the cut.The rounded combs of the Philips Norelco clippers allow for a more comfortable and stylish clipping experience than other clippers for example that were more straight edged and squared on.
The blades themselves are self-sharpening and so require no care or oil after use, so they are hassle free. Noise wise the Clippers are quieter than conventional models as there is no rotary motor to make such a noise. At 13.6 ounces the Philips Norelco Clippers is extremely light, making it ideal for moms to cut children’s hair. One of the best features of this product is that it comes with a how-to DVD for all the beginners out there. It teaches you how to do different cuts and fades which I felt was helpful for people new to cordless clippers and cutting hair.
Founded in 1918 the Panasonic Corporation is a Japanese multinational electronics company that has grown to become one of the largest Japanese electronics producers. They come with two comb attachments to allow you to clip easily and trim the hair as well as mustaches and beards. As with our two previous models, there is an adjustment dial of 10 different settings to tailor the trim to how you would like it.
The blades are super sharp and honed to a 45° angle to create an optimum area for cutting and trimming hair. As with the Philips Norelco clippers, the combs have rounded edges to minimize irritation while cutting.
A typical charge takes one hour and offers 50 minutes of trimming. One thing that surprised me about the ER-GS60-S is how easy they are to clean. Just run the blades under some water and thanks to a unique water draining system there is no risk of damaging the Clippers. A trimmer and clipper brush is also included and allows you to get rid of those hairs from between the blades as well.
So you have read what I think are the top six best cordless clippers out there on the market today, and of the top six there is one that stands out from the rest for me, and that is the Philips Norelco QC5130 hair clippers.
I hear are you ask why? Well for me, I always forget to clean my blades and maintain my hair clippers, so the fact that the Philips Norelco have self-sharpening and cleaning blades makes my life a lot easier in the long run. It means the Clippers will last longer, giving me more value for money as a result and maintain a consistent standard when it comes to cutting my hair.
You Get What You Pay For
When it comes to clippers, you do get what you pay for. After all, you are going to be putting these to your head and shaving your hair, so don’t skimp out on the lower end models as they have cheaper blades, and that can make all the difference when it comes to your cut.
Battery life is important as you don’t want them to give up halfway into your trim and have you hanging around waiting on the recharge.
Oil Your Blades
And finally always make sure to your oil your blades before you use them and remove any wayward hairs from the teeth once you’ve shaved, to keep your cordless clippers in the best possible condition they can be. Now with all that said let’s get onto the best cordless clippers themselves and see who came out on top.
